The coins are round in shape with the raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge bears an inscription: УМАЦАВАННЕ І АБАРОНА ДЗЯРЖАВЫ (STRENGTHENING AND DEFENDING THE STATE).
The obverse: in the center – reconstruction of an ancient fortress in Izyaslavl (Zaslavl) of Rogneda’s times, ; at the top – the relief of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; along the rim inscription – "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); at the bottom – year of issue, and face value "1 РУБЕЛЬ" (1 ROUBLE).
The reverse: relief image of Rogvolod of Polotsk and Rogneda, to the right of them – the image of shallop, along the rim inscription: Rogvolod of Polotsk and Rogneda and years of their board: 970–980 and 985–989 accordingly.
