The coin is devoted to the first Hungarian artificial satellite of Earth of MaSat-1. The name occurs from a combination of the words Magyar and Satellite. It is constructed by the Budapest university of technology and economy. It was put to Earth orbit on February 13, 2012 in the first flight of new European RN Vega from Guiana Space Centre. The satellite has a form of a cube weighing 1 kg and long 10 cm.
The coin is round in square with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is plain.
The Obverse: to the center the relief image of the satellite, to the top the inscriptions on hungarian MAGYARORSZAG.
The Reverse: to the center the relief image of the dymano machinesatellite and Earth. The down inscriptions on hungarian - MASAT - 1 AZ ELSO MAGYAR MUHOLD.
