Description

This 2015 year, the whole world commemorates an important anniversary – long 70 years passed since the end of World War II. But the end was brought about by a number of events which importance changed the course of history forever. Coin made of pure gold called The end of World War II.

At a time when Stalin's troops approached the heart of the Third Reich, one of the most terryfying  conflicts of history was culminating. After a lightning advance of Soviet troops towards Germany, a slaughter awaited Berlin on 25th April. During four days of fierce fighting the major part of the city was  conquered - on 29th April the Red Army occupied the Ministry of Defence and a day later attacked the Reichstag. It was decided at that moment and Hitler had to admit defeat. After noon on 30th April, together with his wife Eva, he took his own life. On the same day, at ten o'clock in the evening, two soldiers of the Red Army hung Soviet flag on the dome of the Reichstag. Joseph Goebbels made an attempt to ceasefire. In vain. Stalin was determined to force humiliated superpower to unconditional surrender. Joseph Goebbels gave up his efforts. With his wife, they first poisoned their children and then committed suicide. General Weidling ended the combats on 2nd May. He ordered the Berlin garrison to surrender, and thus ended the bloodiest chapter in modern history. On 7th May the German High Command signed with the Western Allies surrender act in Reims. The act was signed by representatives of the Soviet Union and the Western powers the following day in Berlin. The 8th May went down in history as the end of the 2nd World War in Europe.
