Description
The coin is round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is milled.

The Obverse: features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. Inscriptions on a circle - ELIZABETH II,  D.B. REGINA.

The Reverse: features Canadian artist Bonnie Ross' depiction of HMS Shannon leaving the Halifax harbor during the War of 1812. The selectively gold-plated cameo in the top right corner og the coin features a depiction of the original figurehead from the Shannon's bow. To the top inscriptions CANADA, to the left - 10 dollars, the down - HMS SHANNON, 1812 - 2012.
